Superintendent/Superintendent’s Representative Services

Connecting Communities - Mossman CBD-Mossman Gorge Shared Pathway Project
Proponent: Douglas Shire Council
Date completed: January 2023 – CurrentConstruction of 2.2km of new concrete shared pathway from Mossman CBD to Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre as part of Douglas Shire Council’s Connecting Communities works program. The project included installation of a new prefabricated pedestrian bridge and associated piling and abutments, extension of a large multi cell culvert structure, cane rail crossing concrete works, new drainage culverts, earthworks, pavement works and bitumen seal. The project improved access to the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre by providing a designated pathway separate to the roadway.
We were engaged by Douglas Shire Council to provide constructability advice during the preconstruction phase. Subsequently, Londino Project Services were involved in managing and finalising the detailed design, tender package and were part of the tender evaluation panel. We were ultimately appointed as Superintendent’s Representative for the construction Contract sharing our technical expertise and construction knowledge to successfully deliver this critical safety infrastructure.

Warner Mowbray Drainage Upgrades, Port Douglas
Proponent: Douglas Shire Council
Date completed: February 2023 – CurrentThis trunk drainage upgrade project involved the installation of a multi cell DN675 RCP stormwater line, 1800x600 culverts, stormwater pits, kerb and channel and pavement reinstatement on Warner Street and Mowbray Street in Port Douglas. The project was the final stage of the drainage upgrades and was required to improve the functionality and efficiency of the drainage network. Given the location of the works within the Port Douglas CBD, extensive planning and stakeholder engagement was required to reduce the overall impact of construction activities to local businesses and residents.
Londino Project Services were engaged by Douglas Shire Council to provide constructability advice, co-ordinate the detailed design and assist with procurement. Furthermore, we provided Superintendent’s Representative Services supporting the project with overall construction verification, contract administration and technical support. A significant number of challenges were faced by the project team including existing underground asset relocations, PASS Management, groundwater management, unsuitable foundation and handling of waste materials. Londino Project Services worked closely with Council and the Contractor to manage these issues and ensure a favourable outcome for all parties.

Yorkeys Knob Boat Ramp Launching Facility

Date completed: August 2022 – September 2023This new recreational boating facility was the first of its kind in Queensland and featured a 6-lane boat ramp with 3 floating walkways, 2 new breakwaters for wave protection, dredged basin and access channel, reclamation, queuing beaches,135 car-trailer park spaces, 63 single car park spaces, new access road and footpath, new amenities block and golf course protective fencing. The project was Constructed by Principal Contractor Hall Contracting on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Cairns Regional Council.
Londino Project Services were engaged by Hall Contracting to fulfil the roles of Project Engineer and Contractor’s Quality Representative for the project. With our strong technical experience, engineering and civil construction background we added significant value to the Construction project team throughout project delivery. Our involvement included procurement and subcontractor management, quality management to DTMR Specification, co-ordination of construction works and technical support.
